IFRE Volunteer Guatemala

Welcome to volunteer Guatemala . For the nature-lover or the history buff, the entire country of Guatemala reads like an encyclopedia of people (both indigenous and those echoing their colonial ancestry), places (ruins of the Mayan Empire as well as quickly-developing cities), and sceneries (landscaped brimming with rainbow-colored wildlife and plants). With people as diverse as the ecosystems found within this Central American country, Guatemala is a perfect place to travel and volunteer.

IFRE invites you to join its volunteer in Guatemala program to explore the country, serve poor kids and women groups, enrich your lifetime experience, and share your love and passion for others. Presently, we offer volunteer in Guatemala in Antigua and Guatemala City , the two most vibrant and beautiful cities of Guatemala.

Your Guatemala Experience starts with Spanish language program. Presently, IFRE offers free Spanish language classes for volunteers joining the Guatemalan volunteer program - volunteering and learning Spanish simultaneously. For example, volunteers can take Spanish classes from 9:00-11:00 AM (before lunch) followed by volunteer activities. However, you can choose to take the Spanish classes or work only in a volunteer project. Alternatively, volunteers may take Spanish classes from 3:00-4:00 PM (after their day's volunteer work). Most of the projects are close to our nearby office (Spanish language center), so it is possible for volunteers do either.

Global Vision International (GVI)

Global Vision International (GVI) promotes sustainable development worldwide through responsible volunteering programs. We offer volunteers the chance to participate in projects and expeditions around the world, make a genuine in-country difference,
and contribute to work in the field. Change your world.

Just one example: Mexican Marine Conservation Expedition in the Caribbean Sea

Volunteer on crucial marine life and coral reef research programs and learn to Scuba dive

This unique expedition takes you to learn scuba diving and earn yourself an internationally recognized PADI diving qualification in the Caribbean waters of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. Here you can take part in important marine conservation work on the world’s second largest barrier reef with coral reef and fish monitoring, turtle nesting and crocodile surveys, as well as community education and sustainable tourism development on land.

On top of the dive training, expedition members will have the chance to vastly expand their knowledge of this tropical marine environment, learn Spanish and partake in expeditions to the almost innumerable places of interest in this beautiful and historically rich area. This expedition takes place in the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, a stunning area with diverse wildlife both above and below the waves. College credit may be available for those attending this expedition. Consult GVI’s college credit page for helpful tips and advice... (more)
